A Rose Gift Is Very Thoughtful
Any recipient of a rose gift (whether it be flowers, pillows or china adorned with roses, or roses made of precious metal like gold and silver) is very appreciated. Rose gifts are the favorite flower gifts throughout the globe and they become even more cherished when Valentine's and Mother's Day come around. In any case rose gifts, are wonderful to give (and receive) at any time of the year.
Roses are quite famous throughout history; the rose was used as a symbol in fifteenth century England where two factions fought over controlling the country. The House of York took the white rose as their emblem and the House of Lancaster adopted the red rose. This famous claiming of the two flowers became known as the War of the Roses.
Tudor King Henry the VII went on to win the war and upon his marriage to a York bride, merged both the red and white roses thus creating The Rose of England or the Tudor Rose; in the nineteenth century, following the creation of the modern rose (hybrid tea roses) we know today, interest was renewed in the rose garden. As it is known, Napoleon's wife, Empress Josephine, had a dream to create just such a garden at their home Malmaison. She was adamant that it should consist of roses from every part of the world.
When you are giving rose gifts, it can make for delightful discussions to tell some of the ancient legends and stories. Whether they are factual or not is of no consequence - it just adds to the romantic imagination we have that encompass the roses.
